Hey guys, I've had this recurring theme going on in my mind, and it just hit me at dinner.
I know the lounge is kinda the point, but we need more recreation in Chex Quest, at least for multiplayer. We need sports, and ways to have fun besides zorching. I know this may be hard or nearly impossible to do, but it would be so awesome to shoot baskets and play volleyball in a CQ Park, wouldn't it?
And racing. Racing. I'd love to have a racetrack in Chex Quest. Chex Kart, anyone?
I realize this is straying far from the intent of CQ, but I just say we should expand our horizons. It's just an idea, anyways.
Is this a fan project you plan on working on, or should I just ship this to Chex Quest Discussion or Chex Quest Multiplayer?
Speaking of recreation in Chex Quest, Boingo tried something called DooM Soccer (http://teamdeim.yuku.com/forums/11), though this project is one of many projects of Boingo that has quietly died over the years.
Soccer in an FPS has NEVER worked well.
Chex Kart could very well be a reality. The 'dreaded' SPACEDM5 pack has an FZERO map near the end that has you speeding down the lanes and shooting each other as you go. only problem: the jumps will EASILY kill you ><
but hey, we could do something with this.
I one time made a chex quest arena with this type of stuff in it i lost it though.

Then again, unless I get some real motivation, it's prolly not gonna be me working on it. Community project, anyone?
Sooo....maybe this should go in CQ Discussion until we get something down?
Moved to Chex Quest Discussion. You can post in Early Development when you have an actual project in the works.
Gotcha. ;)
I'm actually fairly interested in this.
Chex Kart would be awesome! (ima big fan of racing games)
chex dodgeball
Anybody ever heard of a bound game? Where you have to skillfully manuever through obstacles that are either stationary or moving, or flashing 'on and off' without touching them? Touching them usually kills you, or teleports you back to start in these maps. ;)
N
'N'? Talk about your random post. :P
N is not random. It's a game much like you described. Download it here. (http://www.thewayoftheninja.org/)
N is a sweet platformer game. It's kinda is like what you described, but 2D.
Ah, thats more of a 'jump maze' kind of thing imo :P
I was thinkign something like.. You touch a wall, you die. You touch the floor when its lit up or something, you die. You touch a fireball thats moving back and forth or in a circle or something like that.. you die. On some games its quite a fun game that takes skill and timing ;)
Sounds like a good idea.. I have a 3d racing engine I made lying around my desktop, if you want me to touch it up, I'll be the head programmer.

:o
That'd be sweet!
Chex Quest Burnout Revenge style racing game?
Vegeta, what does the scanner say about the win level?
It wasnt Vegeta btw. But..
QuoteIT'S OVER 9000!!! :OOOOOOO
-EXPLODES-
It was part of Frieza's squad or w/e. They were talking about Vegeta, I believe. :P
No, GM is correct in his use of the quote.
Oh. I always thought it was that retarded squad of Friezas.. >.>

Yeah, it's always been Vegeta. Although they used Mr. Owl from the Tootsie Pop commercials once...
Funny thing is, I've never seen an episode of DBZ in my life.
All the time in elementary school, I'd come home and watch Dragonball, followed by Dragonball Z. I'm off the anime shows these days.
Um, anyways, about that racing engine...

Community project?
Yeah! Go right ahead, if you want to make something. :)
You'd probably have to get permission from Bugaham to use the engine, but the whole CQ Recreation idea is a community effort.
I'll see if I can manage to get a map or two, just for the heck of it. I'm a noob at this so bear with me :P
-thinks about trying one of those 'bound' maps- ;)
Hey, no problem. :)
