Title: A patch you may want to use.
Post by: Replica on January 16, 2008, 01:43:46 PM
I've updated the patch i made for the gun spashes and blood. You may want to take a look, to see if you want to use it.

This thing is cool, but I can think of improvements. Don't want to put down your efforts but I am just making constructive criticism.

First of all it does not make sense for zorchers to leave marks behind such as that one. Zdoom has a thing where a sort of burn will be left on the wall for a second and then fade away. The doom plasma rifle does this in gzdoom and it looks very cool. It would normally leave a black burn mark after that, which is what I suspect that you changed, but in my opinion there should be nothing left. Just the fade effect and that's it. A similar effect can be used for the phasing zorcher and the laz device.

I dont think their is a way of geting rid of it. Boingo could open GZDOOM.pk3 and take all the splat names, and give them the cayn (Blue invisable color) on it.

I think that would work. I can try working on this myself if I get the time.

XWE can open pk3's? Well thank you man I never knew that before, lol ;D! I'm so sick of editing them by renaming to pk3.zip.

I wouldn't recommend that. Every time I try to edit a .pk3 file with XWE, the engine useing it gets fragged.

Or you can use slumped witch is better!

SlumpEd is only for DeHackEd patches. ::)
Title: Re: A patch you may want to use.
Post by: Atariangamer on January 21, 2008, 11:17:53 PM
Well, if you edit the main game file, yes the engine will be fragged. But with the use of batch files, you can run the game with the pk3 patch as an addon, not a replacement of it.

Like it could be called 'CQsplats.pk3', and you create in it using a Lump editor your data. You make a batch file to run gzdoom.exe with doomu.wad and CQsplats.pk3. Easy, quick and efficent. (I figgured out the pk3 thing by trying to open the quake files, the pk3 had an xwe icon.)

XWE is good for sprites, sounds, graphics, and music. SLumpEd edits .pk3 files. And yes, my project will now kick into high gear. Does anybody remember the project "Zdoom blood replacement for slime"? I eliminated some kinks and will now include it in my Skulltag project, and in my new engine.

please, did you get the patch by superchex? He fixed alot of problems, but used the worst hosting I ever saw. IF this would fix all GZDooM errors with TUCQ, I WISH YOU GODSPEED!!!

Post by: The Slimeinator on January 23, 2008, 11:07:38 PM
What I've done with the patch so far is I've removed several "bad hex number" errors and changed around the BWA/Quadrumpus impact scorch/splat thing.

slime, how goes it?
Title: Re: A patch you may want to use.
Post by: The Slimeinator on February 04, 2008, 02:51:47 AM
I've patched up the Ultricus/BWA/Quadrumpus/Flembrane/Maximus splats by using the same color coding as superchex did with the blood, so they are the same shade of green. I'm reluctant to conduct another test on editing the regular Zorch scorch (rhyme :D) color, because the last time I did it on the Mini/Rapid zorcher, it ALSO happened to turn the scorch from the Commonus' attack into a red scorch.

Post by: Atariangamer on February 04, 2008, 10:08:09 AM
well, make a separate patch and try it. If it works, put the two together. But the scorch should be red at first then fading to black.

I don't think you can have 2 DECALDEFS in the same .pk3 file without utter chaos.
Title: Re: A patch you may want to use.
Post by: Atariangamer on February 05, 2008, 09:34:42 AM
no, create two patches, then merge the working code together with the existing one.
Title: Re: A patch you may want to use.
Post by: Replica on February 06, 2008, 11:38:31 AM
Heres what needs to be done. You need a Decorate patch, to create a moster. Wich i think your doing is replacing the decorates... And in the commonus decorate you can specifie the scorch!
Title: Re: A patch you may want to use.

Hmm. Sounds like an idea. I'll look into it.
Title: Re: A patch you may want to use.

Not possible.
Unless, of course, the commonus and bicedipus created a projectile instead of hitscans! Like my mod. :)
Title: Re: A patch you may want to use.
Post by: Atariangamer on February 10, 2008, 04:32:57 PM
no, the method sounds possible. plus, we are trying to get it back to the original "slime up close", I think.

Plus, if we make it right...can we have decorates that replace monster (so and so)? like, I want to replace all the troopers (communuses) with this monster (flemoid) with an extra mele attack. He stays the same, he just has a punch, too. Could I use decorate to replace said monster without having to change every map thing?

ah, man, don't mention that program....
I've tried to get it to work to get the Ultricus into my mini-DooM mod (so far I'm only dabbling) but in the sprite section, it only shows 1 sprite of the spoon!

Either you have a broken EXE or you have a broken WAD...I've never had that happen.

Maybe I should redownolad it, or rename doomu to DOOM2
Title: Re: A patch you may want to use.

Are you using Windows Vista, Batmanifestdestiny? If so, look at this (http://chexquest.org/index.php?topic=262.0) topic that might help you get XWE running.

actually, on the topic of tucq patches...I hacked one together. A few months ago, I took some ZDooM wiki stuff, bits of superchex's patch, and the skulltag pk3 to make something that kinda worked...but as of this latest release, it all died.:(
Does anyone have the version just before this one?
