- There's compiled binaries of zandronum that you can download, e.g. Linux 64 bit here https://zandronum.com/download
- If you do want to build zandronum, check out this guide https://wiki.zandronum.com/Compiling_Zandronum_on_Linux . It's a bit hard to get FMOD these days, yes, but the good news is, the library is hosted on zandronum.com, here https://zandronum.com/essentials/fmod/fmodapi44464linux.tar.gz and there's more information about this step in this section: https://wiki.zandronum.com/Compiling_Zandronum_on_Linux#Download_FMOD

There are other ways to do multiplayer too. You can try gzdoom multiplayer, but that tends to have issues, especially when playing with people that aren't in the same area of the world as you are.

I think there's been some work in making an Odamex compatible version of Chex Quest 3. I'll get back to you on that. Keep in mind most mods/map packs made for Chex are for either gzdoom or zandronum.

Can you paste the error message you're getting? You may have to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to where the fmod .so files are located.

This is a port of zeldavxa's Chex Quest 3 fourth episode mod "Flemmed To The Core" over to Vanilla Doom using Melodic Spaceship's port of Chex Quest 3, Chex Quest 3 Vanilla. It is mostly complete, there's just a couple things that need more fixing and polish. It is expected to release in December.

Due to Thy Flesh Consumed's secret exit not being able to effectively shorten the episode unlike the rest of the Ultimate Doom episodes, this mod uses the Doom 2 IWAD, rather than Ultimate Doom's, so you unfortunately won't be able to play the rest of the Chex Quest 3 Vanilla levels in this mod.

The story is quite simple: The dastardly mucus species, the Flemoids, have taken things one step too far, and have kidnapped the Chexian heads of state and taken them to their home galaxy! The flemoids are in larger numbers than ever! They even have a new recruit to their snotty armies, the Arachnus! Luckily, your new Mega Zorcher should take care of all them. It is Chex Warrior's task to locate the portal Lord Snotfolus used, rescue the governors, and rice heck!

Unfortunate.
Did they have any recollection of the plot of any of the animations?

None of the Digital Cafe staff we've talked to have had it. So unless there miraculously exists a copy on somebody's dusty backup drive in the bottom of a closet, unfortunately they have been lost to time.

When viewing celebi23's reconstruction of the original Chex Quest website, it mentions two Chex Quest 2 animations, one for the ending and one made in Shockwave/Flash.

Unfortunately, none of the links work. Are these animations completely lost? Is there any information on them other than what was on the site?

anyone know of any other ways to play multiplayer besides zandorium? I cannot actually use it, because it requires fmod. I tried building it but it won't build. (using linux!)

I was using AUR to do so btw.
