Hey guys, I just realized I have a complete cutout of the back panel of the cereal box down in my basement, does anyone have a scan of these yet?
Edit: Added ;D
Edit 2: Argh sneeky HP software, it autocorrected them anyway, fixed.

As far as I know, we do not. If you could upload that, that would be awesome beyond belief.
wow that was fast lol, I'll try and find it tomorrow, my sister is asleep right now and I don't want to wake her up looking for it. Last time I saw it, it was in a folder labeled chex quest inside a file cabinet so hopefully it won't be too hard to find ;D
Manny Cav would be really excited to hear this! He's been looking for scans of the box for a while now, I believe.
Oh, snap! The original box? Those scans would be greatly appreciated.
good news, great news, and bad news.
I found the folder with the box back panel! Bad news, my scanner is too small and it won't fit on one scan and there is a flaw on the chex warrior. Good news, I have a cutout from another box with the chex warrior that doesn't have a flaw on it.
Fantastic news?
I also have a cutout of the banner from the front of the box.
I'll be scanning these later today, I think I might just include all the scans and have someone else here piece them together if that's alright?
Upload what you've got. Whatever it is, we'll gladly take it!
Now that, sir, is something none of us have. Please upload it!
Sorry folks, stuff came up and I wasn't able to scan them yet, I'll post them as soon as I'm able, for now here's a pic from my camera. I'm not sure what the cut-outs of the disc were from, maybe the top panel or the sides?
edit: image moved to first post
other random stuff:
I know I had print outs from chexquest.com but they've since disappeared, I don't think they were ever trashed though. I'm pretty sure we printed off the chex recipes page that's missing from the recreated website.
There's two scenes I remember from the Chex Quest 2 flash video, the one where the guy picks up the banana peel and I seem to remember him being attacked by a flemoid larva after he peeked into the sewer or something, and the second one was where the chex warrior is asleep and he gets a call about the flemoid attack, I remember thinking that it was weird seeing him in boxers and a tank top (I could be totally mistaken, but he was holding a phone with his back to the camera in the shot).
The previous post contains a large spread of Awesomesauce.
And does the 1 LB 1.5 OZ include the CD? :3
HUZZAH! We had another scanner that was big enough to scan the whole thing. I'm still kicking my 9 year old self for cutting the darn thing up in the first place, oh well better than nothing. We got both the rice and corn chex boxes at the time, I'm not sure which one this is.

Wootcakes. :whale
Now, to the History thread! And an upload to the Gallery.

Yes yes yes! You, my good sir, are awesome and have won the thread.
These scans are sheer win. Are those little circular things in the shape of CQ CDs just like little cutout badges or something? Man, I've never seen the actual cereal box before, as far as I remember.
And the CQ 2 video, you saw it?! Dang, I wish there was a place to find it, that's definitely another piece of the CQ legacy that's been lost to time.
I remember the box, I think I was even at the store with my mom that day and got chex just because of the game.
I do not remember much since I was little when we got the game, but I remember playing it with a Trackball mouse when I was like 4 or 5. I played this game all the time until my ex-step-dad deleted it from the computer because of a virus on the computer and when I lended the Disc to a friend and never got it back.
But I remember playing in the Storage Facility for hours on Super Slimey, going behind the teleporters in the Yellow Door sector and getting all the flemoids in the one large storage area, and zorching them. I also remember jumping a lot whenever a Cycloptis came up behind me and attempted to slime me.
I remember I was always scared by the BWAs, because I thought they were really powerful. I phasing zorched them so quickly I didn't find out how strong they really were until much later XD

All I remember was that they were from one of the side panels, I don't remember what was around it but I'm sure it was something along the lines of free game disc inside.
Yeah, it took forever to load, I really do not miss the days of the 56k modems haha. It was more like a comic book, all the dialog was in speaking bubbles and it flipped between the scenes automatically. I'm pretty sure the camera only panned for the scene with the flemoid, there might have been background music but that was it.

There are two screen shots of the game on the back of the box. One thing I noticed is the numbers on the HUD look different and I don't recognize the location of either one of the shots, but the e1m5 one kinda does look like the slime fall at the start of the level. I'm going to have to check this for myself.
For all we know those screens could have been taken in beta stages.

There is also weapons on the HUD, rather then the Chex logo.
Also, take a look at the outline of the tank. Notice how it is all wavy.
Anyone think they can make that hud happen? That's a slick looking HUD...
Also, notes:
First shot: Floor texture is weird. Also the perspective is VERY weird. The tank is a tad short, the biped is a tad tall, and it all looks a bit...shopped. Same with the shadows. I know doom has a little bit of shading, especially with the gun going off, but that looks a tad too smooth...possibly just the fact its being printed? Also, is it just me, or is it a tad unlikely that you'd be able to actually create that scenario of zorch? Have one on the last frame of zorching, another on the first/second of zorching, or possibly just pain state, and your gun on its last frame of discharge? Also, whats up with the textures in the back? are there windows there? or is that like a blackboard on it?
Second shot: Again with the lighting/shading. Also, perspective near the bottom of the waterfall. Feels weird.
IDK, conspiracy theory: They had some early level and graphics done, so they shopped together enough to put on the box, so by the time they finished the game, the box art could have been finalized and printed and filled with Chex, just awaiting a CD. Didn't they say they had a very small time limit? (reason they were thinking Macromedia till they settled on a quick DooM TC [which with a big team, wouldn't take nearly as long as some games do now]) Would make sense that its either beta shots, or was a quick 'shop.
Ya I can imagine these being super small custom maps just for some beta testing and box art.
Nonetheless these scans are historymaking AWESOMENESS!!
Does anybody know what font the numbers on the old HUD might be or at least look like?

I hadn't eaten chex cereal very often either, I played the game at a friend's house first and wanted my own copy. We didn't eat that box with milk though, it was covered with melted chocolate, spread out over a cookie sheet, and left to harden. I can't remember if we used the 5lb. Hershey's bar I won or if that came later.
THIS IS AWESOMENESS!!! :whale
SO AWESOME!!
i also dont think there are any "corpses" in the game, but idk.

No corpses from a first-person point of view, as you are the one getting slimed. From a third-person camera or multiplayer view, however, it's possible.

Dudes, I am almost a hundred percent sure those are artwork/hand drawn.

Same. There is just something about them. They look like concept art. I wonder if Chukker knows.

Hmm, I know I've seen that HUD somewhere before though! I recall it many years ago, maybe it was on the actual CQ CD in one of the menus with a screenshot...I always wondered how I could get those zorcher ammo counts on my screen like that.

I'm fairly certain they're not, its more likely that they look strange from being printed on cardboard with machines designed more for speed and mass production than printing accuracy. Look at a page printed from an inkjet printer with a magnifying glass, the lines won't be perfectly straight, also keep in mind that these images are very small (somewhere around an inch to maybe an inch and a half).
Not to mention the colors in the picture are exactly the same as in the pallet. I really doubt they would be able to replicate it so accurately.
Yeah, weren't the flemoids going to be yellow in the drawings, but they had to make them green just to fit into the palette?
Yeah, I think Chukker said they were originally going to be yellow, but had to change to green. And unless someone is an extremely good drawer, those are not hand-drawn. Some info on those shots would be nice though.
Those where concept art. It would make no sense to change it during production, and then place them in advertising for final product.
