Title: An actual website?
Post by: TrueDude on July 05, 2008, 06:55:13 PM
Has anyone thought of making a website to go with the CQFF forums? The current location of the forums could be moved to "http://forums.chexquest.org" while the website would be "http://chexquest.org", the chat could be at "http://chat.chexquest.org" (If it's not already there) and a redirect to the wiki could be "http://wiki.chexquest.org".

We actually had a website at one time.  It was called "The Ultimate Chex Quest Page."  I took it down to avoid confusion with Boingo's project.

Well...Why don't we try that? Update the content of the site, paste it as a cover page, add in some updates of majorness (Chat room is up, CQ3 announced, Wiki transformed, TLQ Beta12 released, ect), and maybe the ability to host some sites...kinda like the subdomains for the projects, but it would be...

www.ataridacote.chex quest.org - And it would be a site kinda like freewebs...

BUT Thats kinda too far...

OOH! Brain spark! Make the frontpage kinda like the Portal on the invisionfree board! (obviously not just like it, but styled like it maybe?) IDK, but I do think that would be cool to do.

wow, I just thought of something completely impossible but cool.

We could have the front page be a hallway style CQ map that you run around in, with a motionless Felmoid representing each subforum (board rules, fan projects, etc.) and then when you zorch the flemoid, you teleport to the sub-forum map for the subforums and topics in that one (still using the flemoid) and then you zorch the flemoid for whatever topic you want (or child board) and it will take you to the topic page, or a new map for the child board!

Like I said, completely impossible.

lol, they did something like that in a doom map called "the community is falling"...I think. I played it, it was hilarious, talking about a war between doomworld and newdoom. There were two entrances, and inside was a big area (i guess general discussion), then there were several small rooms that were themed and such...

Sounds interesting, but to stay on topic: on the main page, there could be a list of all (if any) completed mods

P.S:yeah, I'm pretty sure that the sloganisers are going to be hit with the banhammer.

It's not actually impossible. You can do something like that in either Flash or using a Java Virtual Machine.

I could actually possibly pull something like that off, I'm just crappy with the art side of things. I'm well versed in Java and Flash, but by no means am volunteering myself... I hate both.

Get me Season 2 of Dexter and I'll reconsider.   ;)

yeah really, just have a column or maybe a link that leads to completed mods (and almost completed mods)
plus you could have a downloads page where you link to everything you need for like online and stuff (skulltag, zorchmatch ect)

A downloads page sounds like a good idea, instead of hunting everywhere to find it.  :)

Manny Cav's page does the job you mentioned.  I'd link it, but it seems to be down right now.

That's true, but I don't think he has all the mods on there, does he?

It seems to work for me. http://chexquestgallery.webng.com/. The GetWAD section doesn't contain everything needed for a Skulltag match. It just lists the files I'm hosting for the purposes of a community GetWAD service. A pinned topic exists in ChexCommander's Multiplayer forum for this purpose.

You're pinning up your website everywhere you go, aren't you?  ;D
LOL, JK.

Um, yeah, check my forum for WADs, I guess.
